Austin, Texas
Perez Elementary School is named in honor of Lance Corporal Nicholas S. Perez. It is a new 81,000-SF, one-story, steel-framed building with split face CMU and brick façade. The school contains 32 classrooms, a library, a cafeteria and a gymnasium. The project included extending South Pleasant Valley Road 420 feet for site access. The building received a two-star Green Building rating with the city of Austin by implementing native landscape, day lighting, energy-efficient equipment, resource efficiency, commissioning, water-quality and water-saving measures, and the treatment of glazing with tints. This project was the recipient of the 2006 ABC Excellence in Construction Merit Award and the 2006 AGC Outstanding Construction Award.
