RO is thrilled to announce that our monumental project, the
Texas Health Rockwall Addition & Renovation, has been honored with the
prestigious TEXO Distinguished Building Award in the General Contractor –
Health Care 3 category (projects over $30 million). This recognition not only
reflects the outstanding efforts of our team but also underscores the
innovative solutions and unwavering commitment to excellence that defined this
project from its inception.
The Texas Health Rockwall project was a true testament to
the power of collaboration and innovation in the construction industry.
Spanning three years, this project entailed a comprehensive 64,000 square foot
addition, featuring critical facilities such as a Level IV Neonatal Intensive
Care Unit (NICU), pharmacy, operating rooms, and more. Additionally, a 51,000
square foot renovation and a third-floor tenant finish-out were completed to
enhance the existing infrastructure of the hospital.
Amidst the complexities of a multi-phase construction
project, one of the most notable hurdles we encountered was navigating the
unprecedented challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. The project commenced
in December 2019, and within three months, COVID-19 emerged as a significant
concern. The hospital had to establish new protocols during construction,
particularly in the renovation phase where certain facilities remained open. RO
collaborated with the Rockwall County Office of Emergency Management to erect a
temporary facility tent. In response to the evolving situation with COVID-19,
RO promptly provided power and water barricades as needed. Despite these obstacles, our team remained
resilient, ensuring the continued hospital operations and prioritizing the
safety of all stakeholders.
Throughout the Texas Health Rockwall project, we leveraged
cutting-edge solutions such as spatial coordination, laser scanning, and
enhanced visualization to streamline processes and optimize efficiency. One of
the key innovations we embraced on this project, was Procore. Procore allowed us
to revolutionize communication and collaboration on THR and earned us the
esteemed Procore Groundbreaker Excellence in Innovation Award.
For such a large, multi-phase project, we employed our
unique Collaborative Project Planning™ process to ensure meticulous quality
control measures were implemented in proactive planning and scheduling.
Utilizing the CPP™ , our team remained agile and adaptable, ultimately
delivering the project on time and within budget.
The TEXO Distinguished Building Award is not just a
testament to our achievements on the Texas Health Rockwall project; it is a
celebration of the collective effort, dedication, and ingenuity of everyone
involved. As we reflect on this remarkable journey, we are filled with
gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the advancement of healthcare
infrastructure and make a lasting impact on the community.
