Cristina Iglesias Fountain at MFAH

The Cristina Iglesias-designed bronze fountain on the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston campus required a specialty mechanical and controls upgrade to expand what the artwork could do for visitors and curators. The scope added pumps, reconfigured drainage, and improved the system’s day-to-day performance and reliability.

A new programmable control panel now allows MFAH to run multiple fountain scenes, giving curators the ability to tailor the water feature for different exhibitions, events, and campus moments. The work, completed in early 2023, brought a piece of contemporary public art to a higher operational standard without altering the artist’s original vision.
