Luminex Project Longhorn

The second of three RO projects for Luminex Corporation, Project Longhorn was a 51,000 SF design-build renovation that brought warehouse, office, electronics manufacturing, decontamination, and instrument quality control under one roof in north Austin.

As the design-builder, RO assembled a team that worked alongside Luminex from day one — Studio 8 Architects, AYS Engineering, and Boston Industrial — to refine Luminex’s facility plan to fit the way each department actually works. A dedicated permit expediter kept the project moving while the City of Austin worked through one of its heaviest permitting backlogs in years.

Midway through, Luminex pulled the schedule in by two months. The team responded with early procurement, out-of-sequence work, and value management, while absorbing a steady stream of owner-driven design changes along the way. Luminex moved into the space on time and came back to RO for the next project.
