Jimmy Burke Activity Center

The new Jimmy Burke Activity Center in Deer Park replaces the city’s former facility with a venue for community events and gatherings. The project includes two buildings connected by a canopy: the activity center and a Museum + Visitor Center.

The activity center features a 25,000-square-foot divisible multipurpose event space, a pre-function corridor and a catering kitchen, along with a dressing room, storage and support spaces. The Museum + Visitor Center includes 2,000 square feet of exhibit space, offices and a conference room.

Site improvements include 503 parking spaces, new sidewalk connections to the baseball and softball complex, and Ella & Friends Dog Park. The sports-themed dog park features separate areas for small and large dogs, pet turf, interactive play elements and a splash pad.

The team’s proactive coordination earned praise from BRW Architects for using BIM meetings to work through potential clashes, and from the City of Deer Park for keeping the project on schedule and staying attentive to the city’s needs throughout construction.
