Teijin Automotive Technologies Manufacturing Plant

This 180,000 SF tilt-wall industrial facility in Seguin, Texas was built for Continental Structural Plastics, part of the Teijin Group.

The building was designed around the equipment it houses. Pits cut ten to twenty feet deep accept the heavy machinery and capture material below the floor line. The largest pit was engineered to hold more than a million pounds of load, which drove specific concrete mix strengths and slab thicknesses below it. At the front of the building, a high-bay section built from insulated metal panels rises above the tilt wall to accommodate taller equipment and an 80-ton overhead crane.

The biggest pits, some 150 feet by 40 feet, were open holes in the slab while tilt-wall panels were being formed and poured around them. Our team sequenced casting beds, lift paths, and excavation work to keep both operations moving concurrently. The largest panel pick weighed more than 200,000 pounds, stood 30 feet tall, and was nine inches thick.
