Wycliff-Freeman Dormitory & Faculty Residences

Austin, Texas

image description

Blending the creative vision of Andersson Wise Architects with the unique spirit of the existing St. Stephens campus into what has become a seamless transition of functional space, hilltop views, and hundred year old oaks, the student dormitory and three standalone faculty residence buildings are located on the oldest part of the campus and blend into the landscape without disturbing surrounding huge existing oaks.  St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, a 24-7 private occupied campus, is situated on approximately 400 acres on the Balcones Escarpment overlooking Lake Austin. In addition to the school’s core values centered on nurturing and educating a diverse body of students, St. Stephen’s faithfully exercises its commitment to be “careful stewards” of the land by consistently following principles of environmental sustainability. Rogers-O’Brien exceeded owner expectations on this architecturally unique, structurally complex and environmentally friendly project, bringing it in on-time and under budget.   This project is a recipient of the ABC Excellence in Construction Eagle Award.
