The Buddy Temple ’60 Dining Hall & Booth Student Center is centrally located in the heart of the pedestrian-only St. Stephen’s Episcopal School campus. The buildings are woven into the landscape within inches of large live oaks, settled between the residential end of campus and the main student thoroughfare and drop-off area. The Dining Hall includes a sunset dining room, with scenic views and a complete floor to ceiling view of the oak canopy and lake. In addition to offering common spaces for all students, the Student Center includes administrative offices for International Studies, College Counseling and offices for the Upper School Deans. The schedule was compressed to meet the needs of the school to be complete by opening day of the 2013-14 academic year. The artistic Design, value management process, pre-purchase, and construction phasing and delivery logistics, all helped make the Dining Hall and Student Center project the “crown jewel” of the St. Stephen’s campus. The project received the ABC Excellence in Construction Eagle Award and a 2014 Texas Society of Architects Design Award.
